Bali is hot again with business from the region and long-haul markets making their pilgrimage to the Island of Gods. Officials are reporting that occupancy levels among hotels in the upmarket Nusa Dua area have been averaging just over 80% – a huge jump from the 63% logged a year ago during the same month.
Statistics from Balidiscovery.com, which has been tracking arrivals into Bali, showed that this was the best January to date in the history of Bali tourism. The UN Climate Change conference in December 2007 was proof that things are really warming up for the Indonesian island.
New hospitality players coming into market now are adding to the lure of Bali, especially when it takes the form of upperscale brand, St Regis.
The 125 all-villa, all-suite St. Regis Bali is the first St. Regis resort in Asia and is set to open middle of this year.
“The tourism figures of inbound traffic to Bali is definitely reflecting a healthy and promising vision of growth in the luxury segment of hotels and resorts,” said Geetha Warrier, the hotel’s Director of Marketing Communications.
“The figures highlight the potential that the island presents for additional property investment and so The St. Regis Bali arrives at a very suitable time.”
The St Regis is set to raise the bar for hospitality players, especially within the resort industry on the island.
The resort - located at the beachfront in the exclusive Nusa Dua area - also brings with it Bali’s first internationally branded villas - The Strand Villa & Residence. Along with that, expect the accoutrements of St Regis such as the St Regis Butler. The property also offers a wedding chapel service and an appropriately named honeymoon villa - Cloud Nine.
