EVAN LEWIS has been appointed Vice President of Communications for Accor Asia Pacific. Lewis has held senior management positions within Asia Pacific, and most recently was the group’s Director of Marketing - Asia. He will now be based in the group’s corporate office in Singapore. 15 years in senior management positions, including posts as General Manager and operational roles of major hotels in Australia and in Asia.
HEINRICH MORIO has been announced as the new General Manager of the Jumeirah’s iconic Burj al Arab hotel. Morio arrives at the Burj from from Jumeirah Beach Hotel, where he has held the position of General Manager since 2006. Prior to joining Jumeirah four years ago, Morio has worked at luxury hotels including The One & Only Le Touessrok, Mauritius, and The Peninsula in Beverley Hills.
MARGARET PAUL has now been appointed General Manager of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, replacing Morio. Paul has been with Jumeirah since 2002, and is returning to Jumeirah Beach Hotel, where she previously worked as Hotel Manager. Between these times Paul has worked as Pre-Opening General Manager for Jumeirah Business Bay in Dubai, and Hotel Manager for Jumeirah Carlton Tower.
VERONICA TAN has been appointed Director of Human Resources for Capella Singapore, which opens in March 2009. Singapore nation Tan, previous held the position of Director of Human Resources for the St. Regis Hotel, Singapore, before which she served in the same position at Le Meridien, Singapore.
JERE TALA has been appointed as Qatar Airways’ new Area Manager for Korea. Tala moves from his previous role as the airline’s Area Manager in Shanghai. Prior to joining Qatar, he held various management positions with Finnair in Asia.
ASHLEY R. GODDARD has been announced as the new Executive Chef at the Hilton Singapore. With 20 years of culinary experience across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Australian national Goddard joins Hilton from the Anassa Hotel in Cyprus, where he also held the Executive Chef position.
MICHAEL NAGEL has been appointed General Manager of the Hilton Beijing. German national Nagel, a 37 year industry veteran, has spent the last 34 years of his career working at Hilton properties around the world, from Royal Tehran Hilton in 1975, to Hilton Petaling Jaya most recently, with postings in Trinidad, Manila, Nagoya, Osaka, Singapore, Taipei, and Seoul in between.
