PAUL ROMBEEK has been announced as Air France-KLM group’s new General Manager for Singapore, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand (SIAN), effective 1 February 2009. Prior to his new appointment, Rombeek was KLM’s Director Customer Relations Management in the Netherlands. He has also served as the group’s Country Manager for Norway.
DAVID CUMMING has been announced as General Manager of Amari Orchid Resort & Tower, Pattaya. Prior to joining Amari, British national Cumming served as Resident Manager in 2006 at the Amari Watergate Hotel, Bangkok. His career also spans management roles at hotels in the UK, UAE, Egypt and Oman.
FRED MATTI has been appointed General Manager of the InterContinental Sydney.
With a wealth of experience together with companies such as Hilton and Starwood, Matti has previously served as GM for the Westin Sydney before being promoted to Vice President and Area Managing Director – South East Asia, based in Kuala Lumpur.
CYNTHIA DAMMERER has been appointed Public Relations Consultant for Club Med Australia. Ms Dammerer, of Dammerer Nicholas PR & Marketing, previously represented Club Med for two years previously from 2003-2005. She will assist Club Med in their international upscale re-branding campaign and renovation programme.
ROB WEEDEN has been announced as the new General Manager for the Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina, Cairns. Weeden has 12 years of experience with the Shangri-La, which he joined in 1997 as Director of Marketing of the Australian Regional Sales Office in Sydney. He has subsequently senior positions with Shangri-Las in Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur and more recently Sydney.
OLIVER MARTIN is returning to his native Canada to take up the role of Vice President for Global Development at GlobeScan – the largest provider of reputation research specifically focused on CSR and sustainability issues for global companies and multinational institutions. Martin has previously served as Associate Director of PATA’s Strategic Intelligence Centre, based in Bangkok.
