London Stansted held a fam trip for airlines recently in a bid to increase business from the airport. Representatives from easyJet, bmibaby, Pegasus and Aurigny were amongst the carriers that headed on a tour of Essex, which included a VIP tour of Colchester’s new contemporary arts venue and an overnight stay at the Lifehouse Spa. “In tough economic times, showcasing Essex and the tourism opportunities it offers to our major airlines can only help the local tourist economy to continue to thrive within the region,” said Paul Haynes, airline, route and marketing manager at Stansted Airport. In addition, Stansted, London & Partners and Visit Essex have launched a marketing campaign this week to showcase the county’s attractions ahead of the Olympics. The airport is handing out leaflets to outbound passengers to entice them back into visiting London and Essex locations such as Colchester, Chelmsford and Southend.
