Starwood Hotels & Resorts is embarking on a major recruitment drive in Asia Pacific that will see it hire more than 25,000 new staff in the region by the end of this year.
To fill such a large number of positions, the company will host a series of recruitment events this month in cities across Asia. The ‘Starwood Careers Day 2014’ events will be held on 21 March 2014 in more than 120 locations across Asia Pacific, including Bangkok, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, New Delhi, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
This huge HR effort comes as Starwood plans to open more than 200 hotels across the Asia Pacific region, including 30 in 2014 alone.
“This is an exciting time to join Starwood Asia Pacific. As we forge ahead with expansion, we are putting more and more focus on talent recruitment and development to fill the ever-growing need for the best and the brightest,” said Stephen Ho, Starwood’s president for Asia Pacific.
“Starwood’s culture is defined by our belief that people want a better way to experience the world, and the success we enjoy today as one of the world’s most innovative hospitality brands is a testament to how we have unified our culture around this shared belief.”
Starwood currently operates more than 260 hotels in Asia Pacific, with an additional 200 in the pipeline. To sustain this growth, the company is planning to build on its existing headcount of 73,000 staff members in Asia Pacific, with a further 25,000 positions at all levels expected to be filled by the end of this year.
The careers days will allow potential candidates to meet with HR representatives from a range of Starwood hotels. Positions available will cover a range of departments, including front office, sales & marketing, HR, revenue management, finance, F&B, housekeeping, kitchen, engineering, accounting and administration.
