Strong earthquake hits Japan islands

A strong earthquake has been registered in Japan’s southern Ryukyu Islands and neighbouring Taiwan, but there were no reports of casualties or damage. According to a Channel NewsAsia report, the 6.6-magnitude quake triggered a tsunami warning, which was later withdrawn.
