Low-cost carrier Thai VietJet has launched a new series of flights to India, to cater to the Buddhist pilgrimmage market.
The Bangkok-based airline has now started operating weekly flights from the Thai capital to Bodh Gaya, the religious site in the Indian state of Bihar. The first flight departed on 24 October and services will now run every Saturday using a 180-seat, all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft.
The new flights follow an earlier charter service operated by Thai VietJet between Bangkok and Bodh Gaya during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Under the new weekly schedule, flights will depart Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport every Saturday at 1130, landing at Gaya Airport three hours later. The return flight will leave the same day at 1410 and arrive back in Bangkok at 1840.
Thai VietJet has previously operated charter flights from Bangkok to Hue and Danang in Central Vietnam.
