Shanghai’s Suzhou Creek – once one of the city’s main transportation waterways but a polluted eyesore – is to be transformed into a tourist attraction. The Shanghai Daily has reported that over 200 officials have gathered in Shanghai to discuss ways of cleaning the waterway, and turning it into a “cultural corridor”.
Visitors will be able to relax on boats or stop at scenery spots and museums, said city officials. “Building topical museums with interactive activities can tap into this history,” said Chen Qinjian, a heritage expert at East China Normal University.
