The UK’s first conference on film tourism in four years has been announced, and will run on Friday 18 March at BAFTA in London’s Piccadilly. The London International Film Tourism Conference (LIFTC) will showcase international best practice in the growing sector, and is aimed at tourism operators, destination and attraction marketing managers, tourism consultants and academics from the UK, Europe and further afield. Run towards the end of British Tourism Week, LIFTC will hear from expert speakers from around the world on film tourism marketing, destination branding, visitor management and film tourism licensing. The conference has the support of VisitBritain, the Tourism Society, VisitLondon and other industry associations, and comes at the end of one of the most important years ever for film tourism. In 2010, movies like Sherlock Holmes and Robin Hood, and television series like Downton Abbey galvanised the tourism industry into action.
