Passengers of Virgin Atlantic have received an apology from the carrier after it left them stranded overnight in Canada on Saturday.
The aircraft, which was flying from Heathrow to York, was forced to land at Gander Airport in Newfoundland with 255 passengers onboard after a technical fault was found.
However, the BBC reported, Virgin Atlantic was unable to find accommodation for everyone onboard meaning that passengers were left stranded from 10:30pm until their rescheduled flight, which had been arranged for 4:55pm on Sunday.
The news provider quoted a spokesman as saying: “Virgin Atlantic can confirm that flight VS25 from London Heathrow to New York JFK diverted to Gander due to a technical fault.
“Our engineers are on their way to the site to inspect the plane.
“The safety and welfare of passengers and crew is Virgin Atlantic’s top priority. The airline would like to thank passengers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
