The first batch of new flight attendants has graduated at Virgin Australia’s new cabin crew base in Adelaide.
The 24 new employees spent the past seven weeks undergoing training in the city, and will now serve passengers on flights operating from South Australia’s capital.
“At Virgin Australia we pride ourselves on offering award-winning service and our rigorous cabin crew training programme plays an integral role in our success,” said the carrier’s chief customer officer, Mark Hassell.
“We are especially excited about these graduates, as they are the first cabin crew to be recruited and trained in Adelaide, which benefits our business and the greater Adelaide community.
“These new team members have been selected for their motivation and commitment to excel and we expect them to put our customers at the heart of everything they do”, Hassell added.
Virgin Australia currently operates 40 daily flights at Adelaide and the opening of its cabin crew base in the city is expected to lead to the creation of approximately 80 new jobs.
They will work alongside the seven new pilots who graduated from Virgin Australia’s cadet programme in Adelaide in December 2013.
