World Expo welcomes eight million visitors in opening month

More than eight million people visited the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai the month since it opened, official Expo statistics have revealed. Reported by Xinhua the data showed that 304,800 paying visitors had entered the park on 31 May, taking the monthly total of paying visitors to 8.01 million. The largest daily total was on 29 May, when the expo welcomed 503,600 visitors. If the monthly total for May continues for the rest of the Expo however, the event will fall well short of its target of 70 million guests.
