Xi’an, in northwest China’s Shaanxi province, is planning to develop 15 new metro rail lines, extending its total network to 600km by 2040, local media has reported. The first two lines will open by the end of the year, with construction of Line 3 expected to start in October. The new project marks a significant expansion from the original plan to develop four lines with a total length of 73km. Xi’an is home to China’s famed Terracotta Warriors.
