14-loop coaster launches at Alton Towers

Alton Towers is to debut its new 14-loop rollercoaster tomorrow and we’ve got a sneak preview into how it will look.
The new ride, named The Smiler, has been given a Guinness World Record for the most loops in a coaster with its 14 upside-down turns.
The rollercoaster breaks the previous record set by Thorpe Park’s Colossus which has 10 loops.
The Smiler has taken more than eight months to build at a cost of GBP18 million.
It was due to open to the public today (23 May) but has been postponed due to “unforeseen teething problems”. Those who had planned to visit the park specifically for the ride can call the park to postpone their visit.
