Vivid Sydney, the annual Australian light show, will illuminate the city’s Taronga Zoo for the first time this year.
Marking the 100th anniversary of the zoo, Vivid Sydney will project its multi-coloured lights on the attraction’s heritage-listed main entrance building, while inside the zoo thousands of lanterns will light up 10 large animal sculptures.
“The captivating creatures ranging from the vividly coloured Corroboree frog to the grand Asian elephant will sparkle and feature interactive lighting, sound effects and moving parts.
“They will be among the largest and most technologically advanced lanterns featured in the festival, showcasing the innovation Vivid is known for,” said New South Wales’ Minister for Trade, Tourism & Major Events, Stuart Ayres.
Vivid Sydney, which is organised by state tourism body Destination NSW, runs from 27 May to 13 June 2016. The event attracted a record-breaking 1.7 million attendees in 2015.
