World Travel Awards honours Asian travel industry
A gala ceremony was held last night for the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia & Australasia. With Thailand hosting the event for the first time, guests from more than 30 countries arrived at the Dusit Thani Bangkok, and the Thai capital was rewarded by being named as Asia’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination. Other home-grown winners included Banyan Tree Bangkok, which was named Asia’s Leading City Spa Hotel, Centara Grand at CentralWorld which picked up the gong for Asia’s Leading Meetings & Conference Hotel, and Dusit Thani Bangkok itself, which was named Asia’s Leading City Hotel.
Other big winners included Mandarin Oriental (Asia’s Leading Luxury Hotel Brand), Malaysia Airlines (Asia’s Leading Airline), and Singapore Changi Airport (Asia’s Leading Airport). Travel Daily Media Group’s Editor-in-Chief, Mark Elliott presented Air India with the award for Asia’s Leading Airlines - Economy Class.
