Qatar Airways direct route from Doha to Buenos Aires has seen exceptional growth, according to the carrier’s CEO. The airline, the first Middle East-based carrier to fly to the land of tango, reported that global response to the route had been exceptional. “Qatar Airways’ growth in the Latin American market has been exceptional, and our route has been very well received by passengers,” said chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker. “The Doha - Buenos Aires route provides a key gateway for commercial, leisure and tourism traffic and opens the door to further expansion into South America. In line with our existing strategy to introduce more frequencies to existing destinations and operate direct services, we aim to fly a dedicated non-stop flight to Argentina’s capital city in the future.” Following Qatar’s victory in hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the route will be increasingly important over the coming years to drive traffic from Argentina and its neighbouring countries to the Middle East. Qatar Airways recently announced its 100th destination to Aleppo in Syria from 6 April next year, providing even more options for travellers flying between east and west.
