The British woman kidnapped from Kiwayu in Kenya is being held on an island in southern Somalia, it has been announced. Police expect armed pirates to issue a ransom demand for the woman in the next few days, while authorities in Kenya and a team from the Metropolitan Police continue to work on the investigation. Meanwhile the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised all but essential travel to within 30km of the Somali border and also gave the same guidelines to low income areas of Nairobi, including all township or slum areas. Tourist resorts and holidays to Kenya outside these areas are operating as usual.
