G Adventures, the adventure tour operator formerly known as Gap Adventures, has celebrated a record-breaking sales day. The day after its name change, the company reported a 41% sales growth compared to the same time last year, and an 83% increase compared with 2009.
“As we enter a new era, we’re thrilled to have achieved such incredible results,” said Bruce Poon Tip, G Adventures’ founder. “The feedback on our new name has been overwhelmingly positive. The travel community and industry have embraced the change.”
The company also revealed that the Australia, New Zealand and Asia region is now G Adventures’ second largest and fastest growing market.
“I believe the results we continue to see within this region are a testament to the amazing people who I have the great pleasure to work with every day here in Australia and New Zealand,” said G Adventures’ head for Australia & New Zealand, Pete Rawley.
“When we started this journey a few years back, to really make a stand in this market, we knew it was going to be a competitive proposition. You only have to look at how aggressive our competitors have been – both in the public domain and behind closed doors – to know that we are in a very aggressive sector of the market. To see such outstanding results here in Australia and New Zealand gives the whole team a great sense of pride and satisfaction,” he added.
