Animal rights got a massive boost in Indonesia when the Bogor Regency Livestock and Fishery Agency announced plans for a ‘cow hotel’. The facility is intended to provide accommodation to unsold livestock going to market. Quoted in the Jakarta Post, agency chief Soetrisno said; “This hotel is for unsold cows. Taking them home would be a waste of money, especially for those from outside the region. Therefore it would be better to have the cows stay there until the next market day.” The all-inclusive hotel ensures the animals’ welfare, promising to feed and care for its unusual guests.
