Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) recently received approval from the Department of Transport (DoT) on its Environmental Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) documentation, including a detailed timeline for implementation across ADAC and its subsidiaries.
The EHSMS is one of the key aspects of the Integrated Management Systems (IMS) programme initiated by ADAC in November 2010, and comprises of Quality Management System, Aerodrome Certification Management Systems and Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS).
According to the approval received from DoT, the official implementation of ADAC EHSMS across ADAC and subsidiaries will begin from April 2012, with full implementation should be completed by December 2013.
Eng Ahmad Al Haddabi, chief operating officer at ADAC said: “ADAC is keen to adapt the latest methods and systems that would enable it to increase efficiency whilst maintaining standards of environment awareness, health and safety, security and quality. Once fully functional, not only will IMS bring benefits to the whole organization; it will also position ADAC amongst the first few to comply with the DoT EHSMS.”
As part of the facilitation of the IMS programme, ADAC Airports Operations have also developed a pool of internal Auditors, consisting of 17 personnel, including six UAE Nationals, who were accredited by RSK Consultants as IMS Internal Auditors. RSK Consultants have been working with ADAC’s Operations to deliver the documentation and facilitation towards the Integrated Management system programme (IMS).
