Merlin Entertainments plans to open its new attractions in Oberhausen, Germany in spring 2013, it has revealed.
The attraction operator is currently building the Ocean Adventure Park and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in the CentrO Oberhausen shopping centre as part of a EUR15m (£11.9m) investment following the success of its SEA LIFE aquarium in the region.
Construction has already begun on the attractions with plans to open in spring 2013.
Its Ocean Adventure Park will include the group’s first combined ride, aquarium and animal encounter experience named ‘Antarctic Adventure Expedition Extreme’. Its LEGOLAND Discovery Centre will be the second in Germany and follow the format to previous centres, including a 4D cinema, brick pool, rides and brick building classes.
“This is a major investment for Merlin but one in which we have enormous confidence,” said Glenn Earlam, managing director Midway Attractions at Merlin.
