UAE, Qatar sign aviation MoU

The United Arab Emirates has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar to increase the number of flights between the two countries, according to a Gulf News report.
Represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the UAE signed the accord, naming FlyDubai, Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia and RAK Air, as their allotted national carriers. Qatar Airways was appointed Qatar’s designated carrier. The MoU provides for an unlimited number of scheduled and unscheduled flights between Dubai and Doha, 42 scheduled flights between Abu Dhabi and Doha, 10 scheduled flights between Sharjah and Doha and 7 scheduled flights between Ras Al Khaimah and Doha.
The two sides may also operate scheduled cargo flights of any aircraft, according to the terms of the MoU. The signing ceremony was attended by Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation Director-General, Mohammad Al Ahli, Sharjah’s Department of Civil Aviation Chairman, Sheikh Essam Al Qasimi, Ras Al Khaimah’s Department of Civil Aviation Director-General, Saeed Al Madhani, and Galib Al Soloh, Head of International Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport.
