Sri Lanka has registered a growth of 18.7% in the first six months of 2012. According to the data released by the government, the country received 452,867 tourists during the period January to June 2012.

The Sri Lankan Tourism Development Authority said the highest number of tourists – 172,602 arrived from Western Europe, with the UK clocking the highest arrivals at 47,975, followed by Germany with 32,081. India continued to lead the number of regional travellers with 85,426 arrivals.
