An extra 15 more town centres are to be given regeneration funding as part of Mary Portas’ review, a minister has said.
Ashford, Berwick, Braintree, Brighton, Hatfield, Royal Leamington Spa, Liverpool, Waterloo in central London, Forest Hill in south London, Tower Hamlets, Loughborough, Lowestoft, Morecambe, Rotherham and Tiverton are to share £1.5m to improve their high streets.
Around 370 towns applied for the grants and can continue to bid for individual projects from a £3.5m funding pot, government minister Grant Shapps told Sky News.
The towns are the second batch to receive regeneration money under the ‘Portas pilots’ scheme, which aims to boost spend in the high street.
