Hong Kong Airlines has confirmed it will suspend its all-business class flights from London in September.
The carrier attributed the weak economic outlook in Europe and the strength of its Asian business in the decision, which will take effect from 10 September.
Rumours circulated earlier this week over the route’s closer when GDS sales for the flights were suspended. The all-business class route only launched in March this year.
“We believe that a regional model focused on Asia Pacific is most appropriate for Hong Kong Airlines at this stage of our growth,” said Yang Jian Hong, president of Hong Kong Airlines. “Our key focus will be building our regional network and strengthening our business across China, South East Asia, Japan and Korea.”
It will arrange re-bookings or refunds with trade and customers.
