Cebu Pacific Air has taken delivery of its 39th aircraft, a brand new Airbus A320.
The new narrow-body aircraft will be used to launch CEB’s twice weekly direct services between Iloilo and Hong Kong on 8 November 2012.
CEB’s fleet now comprises 21 A320s, 10 A319s and eight ATR72-500 aircraft. Between 2012 and 2021, the Philippine carrier will take delivery of 21 more A320 and 30 A321neo aircraft. It is also planning to commence long-haul services in 2013, following the arrival of four wide-body A330s.
The new Hong Kong–Iloilo service will be the first ever connection between Hong Kong and Iloilo province, which is located in the southern part of Panay Island, in the central Philippines.
“Greater China is one of our top source markets and we are proud to offer our Chinese passengers more brand-new aircraft and the lowest fares to various destinations across the Philippines,” said CEB’s Vice President for Marketing & Distribution, Candice Iyog.
CEB recently announced plans to sell its entire fleet of A319s to US-based low-cost carrier Allegiant Air, as it replaces them with new A320s.
