Cora is godmother of the Riviera

Chefs for Humanity, a charity founded by celebrity chef Cat Cora, today announced that it has received a US$50k donation from luxury cruise operator Oceania Cruises.

The charity, which Cora launched in response to the 2004 Indonesian tsunami has also given aid to victims of natural disasters in New Orleans, Haiti and Ethiopia.

Cora has a close working relationship with the Oceania for a number of years and was given the honour of christening the line’s newest ship – the Riviera – in May 2012.

“We are delighted that Cat Cora is now part of the Oceania Cruises family – her passion for fine cuisine captures the core of what we do every day,” stated Kunal S. Kamlani, Oceania Cruises’ president. “We are immensely proud of Cat’s philanthropic endeavours outside the kitchen and the work she is doing to reduce hunger across the globe. It is an honour to make this commitment to Chefs for Humanity in celebration of her role as godmother to Riviera.”

The 1,250-guest Riviera features 10 dining areas – including a wine tasting area – and is the second ship Oceania has launched in eighteen months.

“It is inspiring to have such generous support from Oceania Cruises,” said Chefs for Humanity founder Cat Cora.  “Smart philanthropy from organisations like Oceania can make an enormous difference in providing and implementing solutions to impact hunger and malnutrition. Chefs for Humanity is honored to be a partner with Oceania Cruises in this fight against hunger.”
