PIER LUIGI FOSCHI has been appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the newly-formed Carnival Asia. Foschi, who retired as CEO of Costa Cruises in July, returns to Asia Pacific to oversee Carnival’s regional expansion. He will continue to serve of the board of directors of Carnival Corporation & plc.
JOHN EVANS has been named as Etihad Airways’ new General Manager for the Philippines. With more than 35 years of experience in airline operations, Evans has held senior management roles at Swissair and Gulf Air. He was previous Etihad’s General Manager for Cyprus.
JENNIFER SAMPSON has been appointed Vice President of Product Management for Pegasus Financial Services, a division of Pegasus Solutions. A 13-year veteran of Pegasus, Ms Sampson has served as Operations Manager, Product Manager and Implementations Manager.
KARYN KENT has been appointed as Tourism Australia’s new Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia, based in Singapore. Ms Kent joins the national tourism body from the South Australian Tourism Commission, where she was Director of Sales for the international market.
KAREN MERRICK has become the first female General Manager of the Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives. A British national, Ms Merrick has 25 years’ experience in the Hospitality industry including spells in the UK, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Maldives.
JAKRI RUJIRAT has been announced as the new Hotel Manager at the Kirimaya Golf Resort Spa, on the edge of Thailand’s Khao Yai national park. Rujirat has more than 20 years of hospitality experience, including spells with Accor, Shangri-La and Anantara.
OLIVIER PIGANIOL has become the new Executive Chef at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi. A French national, Chef Olivier most recently spent five years at the famous Dharmawangsa hotel in Jakarta. He has also worked at several multi-Michelin-starred restaurants in France.
MATT FYNCH has been appointed Director of Sales & Marketing at the Pullman Phuket Arcadia Naithon Beach. An Australian national, Fynch has nine years of experience in the hospitality industry, including spells with IHG in the Maldives, New Zealand and Thailand.
CECILIA LEUNG has been appointed as Cathay Pacific Airways’ new General of Corporate Communications. Prior to taking up this position, Ms Leung was General Manager of In-flight Services & General Manager of International Affairs at Dragonair, Cathay’s sister airline.
DIETMAR SAWYERE has been named Chef and Director of Restaurants at Hayman, the private island resort in the Great Barrier Reef. The Swiss-born chef has previously been named ‘chef of the year’ in Sydney, London and New Zealand, as well as running a host of top restaurants.
KATHY HANSBERRY has been promoted to the role of Public Relations & Promotions Manager for Outrigger. Ms Hansberry joined the Hawaiian hotelier as a Public Relations Coordinator in 2005, prior to which she worked with Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the Sheraton Waikiki.
CAROLYN MURREN has been announced as the new Advertising Manager for Outrigger. Ms Murren joins the Hawaii-based hotel firm with nearly 20 years of experience at advertising agencies in Honolulu. Most recently she was Account Manager for the 4Front Branding agency
