Thai Airways International (THAI) will launch Airbus A380 flights to Sydney next year.

The new superjumbo will be flown daily to the Australian city from 16 September 2013, becoming the airline’s fourth new A380 route launch of the year. Daily flights to Tokyo Narita, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Osaka Kansai will commence in January, February and August 2013 respectively.

Speaking to Travel Daily in Toulouse yesterday, THAI’s Exec Vice President of Technical, Captain Montree Jumrieng, also revealed that London Heathrow will be added to the airline’s A380 network in October 2013, “after the fifth or sixth aircraft is delivered”.

THAI will receive its first A380 in a delivery ceremony in Toulouse tomorrow (Thursday 27 September) and has six of the double-decker aircraft on order.

The first aircraft will initially fly to Singapore and Hong Kong on a temporary basis from next month until mid-December, before being deployed on the Bangkok-Frankfurt route. All of THAI’s A380s will be fitted with 12 seats in Royal First class, 60 in Royal Silk business class and 435 in economy. All passengers will be offered seatback in-flight entertainment systems with more than 100 moves, as well as PC power points.
