Kingfisher Airlines has further extended its partial lockout till 12 October 2012. The airline will not operate any flights during this period. The airline’s official statement said, it was forced to declare a partial lockout in view of the illegal strike perpetrated and continued by a faction of technicians, AME’s and Pilots.
“The illegal strike has still not been withdrawn and normalcy has not been restored in the Company, thereby continuing to cripple and paralyse the working of the entire airline. Kingfisher Airlines has been constrained to extend the partial lock-out which commenced from Monday evening (1 October) up to Friday 12 October or up to such earlier date on which the said illegal strike is called off,” Prakash Mirpuri, Vice President for Corporate Communications at Kingfisher Airlines said.
Meanwhile, the bank has agreed to release INR60 crore for the airline to pay its employees. The move to release the money came after the Income Tax department lifted the freeze on the airline’s account yesterday, reported IBNLive.com. Civil Aviation Minister, Ajit Singh said that Kingfisher Airlines will have to take permission from the DGCA to fly. “We have made it clear that Kingfisher has to get DGCA’s permissions if it wants to fly. Certified engineers have to approve it and the employees issue has to be sorted out,” Singh said.
