Royal Caribbean International has announced that changes will take place to sales commissions for its Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises brands.
The new commission structure will see levels lowered to 10% and will come into effect on 1 January 2013. Commissions on Azamara Club Cruises will not be changed.
The company confirmed the changes, saying that it wished to address the issue over consumers wanting clarification over price throughout the year, also ensuring that their cruises were sold on more than prices alone.
“The trade has always been, and will continue to be, very important to our business,” said Jo Rzymowska associate vice president and general manager, UK and Ireland. “Through these changes our intention is to continue this strong support to those trade partners who work with us to sell our cruises on brand differentiation and the great value they offer to our collective guests.
“Our revised commercial terms will encourage greater focus in this area and allow greater price clarity in the market place. We will continue to boost our investment in trade support allowing both our smaller and larger trade partners to compete on a level playing field. Our aim is that agents’ earning potential is retained as much as possible.”
The move is one which mirrors the decisions being made by other lines including Carnival Corp’s Complete Cruise Solution and Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.
