VietJet Air has launched flights to the Vietnamese resort island of Phu Quoc.

The route, which commenced on 15 December, will now be operated daily to and from Ho Chi Minh City, using an all-economy, 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The 50-minute flight will depart HCMC at 0715 and arrive in Phu Quoc at 0805. The return leg then departs at 0840.

“Today we open another route to one of Vietnam’s most incredible destinations,” said Desmond Lin, VietJet’s business development director. “Following the opening of the new Phu Quoc International Airport, this is a great time to promote Phu Quoc Island as one of the country’s most incredible holiday spots for Vietnamese and foreigners.”

VietJetAir now operates nine domestic routes connecting HCMC, Hanoi, Nha Trang, Danang, Vinh and Haiphong, Hue, Dalat and Phu Quoc. Its first international route from HCMC to Bangkok will commence on 10 February 2012.
