Holland America Line will increase its Asian capacity in 2013-14, with the deployment of two cruise ships in the region.
ms Volendam and ms Rotterdam will both be based in Singapore next winter, offering cruises ranging from 14 to 53 days, and including destinations such as Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, China, Japan, Australia, Sri Lanka, India and Indonesia.
“Asia continues to flourish as a popular cruise destination, so the timing is right to increase our capacity in the region,” said Richard Meadows, Holland America’s executive vice president of marketing, sales and guest programmes. “The enhanced itineraries offer guests an opportunity to take in the rich Asian culture and even go inland to see some of the most well-known sites.”
The 1,404-passenger ms Rotterdam will set sail for Asia on 8 January 2014, departing Rotterdam on a 51-day trip to Singapore. Once in the region it will sail a range of round-trip itineraries from Singapore, mostly to the islands of Indonesia.
The 1,432-passenger ms Volendam meanwhile, will offer several Southeast Asian roundtrips from Singapore, plus north Asian cruises between China and Japan, and a trip to Australia and the Great Barrier Reef.
