European airports attract Indian airlines

European airports are looking at attracting Indian airlines to fly to their destinations.
Airports like Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Gatwick and Munich are attracting Indian airlines to start direct services. Representatives from these airports met Air India and Jet Airways executives at the recently concluded Routes Asia 2013 conference in Mumbai.
“We are discussing with Indian airlines. Munich would be a logical choice for Jet Airways in Germany,” Oliver Dersch, Director for Traffic Development for the airport was quoted as saying by the Business Standard. Citing similar opinion, Wilco Sweijen, Director for Aviation Marketing at Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport said, “The Indian market is important with major potential for growth. We are in dialogue with Indian carriers.”
According to the data released by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), 37 million passengers flew to or from India in 2010-11, of which 11.4 million were conducted by hubs outside India. Dubai, Doha, Frankfurt, Sharjah and Singapore are top aviation hubs preferred by Indians.
