Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has signed a management contract for its first hotel in the northern Chinese city of Xi’an.
Due to open in 2016, the Swissôtel Xi’an will be located in China’s second national civil aerospace industrial base, which is currently under construction in the Shaanxi province capital. Upon completion, it is expected to be home to more than 300,000 residences and 30 medium- to large-scale businesses.
The hotel itself will offer 350 rooms and suites with a minimum size of approximately 40m², plus four restaurants, conference and banqueting space, and a Pürovel Spa.
“This is a welcome addition to our current portfolio in China, and will complement our upcoming projects in Chengdu, Changsha and Sanya,” said Swissôtel’s president, Meinhard Huck. “Xi’an is a strategic step in our plans and put us on track with our goals to expand in emerging markets.”
Swissôtel currently operates four hotels in mainland China, but expects to this to double to eight by 2016.
