Qatar Airways carries more relief to Pakistan

Qatar Airways has received relief goods from the United States on board its newest aircraft with the aid destined for victims of the devastating floods in Pakistan. The supplies arrived on the delivery flight of Qatar Airways’ 22nd Boeing 777, into Doha direct from Seattle following a 14-hour journey. Qatar Airways, Boeing and two non-profit organisations - AmeriCares and International Medical Corps - collaborated to bring the relief aid from the United States.
The uplift in the cargo hold of the airline’s newest 777-300 Extended Range aircraft comprised of almost 35,000 pounds of medicine and medical supplies. The aid supplies are to be flown to Islamabad from Doha on three separate Qatar Airways’ commercial flights with the first of these flights departing today. Once arriving in the Pakistan capital, the aid will be distributed by local charity groups throughout the country’s flood-hit regions.
This delivery follows several other consignments of emergency aid sent from the State of Qatar since the outbreak of devastating floods in Pakistan which have affected millions of people across the country. Relief items in this latest shipment are mainly health and medical supplies, including prescription drugs and hygiene kits.
Qatar Airways has extended its heartfelt commitment to the people of Pakistan by volunteering its resources to carry goods and aid, and working with local charities to build a vital relief air bridge from Qatar.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said: “The devastation that has affected the people of Pakistan is truly tragic, and it is our obligation as an airline to support the transport of much needed relief aid to the country. Together with our partners we hope to make a difference in the lives of those that have been so tragically impacted.”
