Hilton Worldwide has unveiled a major expansion of its luxury brands in Asia Pacific.
The company is planning a significant roll-out of its Waldorf Astoria and Conrad brands in the region, with a combined total of 16 new properties set to open across Asia by the end of the decade. For the ultra-luxury Waldorf Astoria brand, five of its 12 new properties opening between now and 2020 will be in Asia Pacific, while Conrad’s pipeline of luxury hotels features 11 Asia Pacific properties out of a total of 13 new openings.
And speaking during ILTM Asia event in Shanghai this week, Hilton’s global head of luxury & lifestyle brands, John Vanderslice, revealed that that 11 of the 16 new Asia Pacific properties will be in China, with Waldorf Astorias rising in Beijing, Chengdu, Sanya and Baoting (Hainan province) and Conrads coming online in Guangzhou, Suzhou, Xiamen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Qingdao and Tianjin. This follows the recent launch of the Conrad Beijing.
“It has been well known that Asia Pacific is driving the demand for luxury and Chinese consumers now account for half of all luxury purchases in the region.” said Vanderslice. “China will be central to our growth strategy and we will also be looking to introduce both brands to new markets. More than just having a roster of hotels at impressive locations, we are extremely conscious of our respective brand missions which include delivering a singular experience in extraordinary places for Waldorf Astoria and… Conrad.”
Elsewhere in Asia Pacific, Hilton is planning to bring its Waldorf Astoria brand to Bangkok, while Conrad properties will be rolled out in Mumbai, Manila, Bengaluru and Bali.
