Thomson and First Choice are to up their services from London Southend Airport next summer, it has been announced.
The tour operators will fly twice a week to Palma, Majorca and add an Ibiza service in summer 2014.
Its two Palma flights will allow local holidaymakers to stay for 10 and 11-night stays as well as the traditional seven and 14-nights.
“Adding these routes from London Southend Airport demonstrates our commitment to the East of England and following the success of similar routes across a number of regional airports, we know that the demand is there and we know customers are keen to fly from their local airport,” said Paul Cooper, airport negotiations manager for Thomson and First Choice.
The announcement was made during a tour of the first phase of the airport’s terminal expansion, which will see a new arrivals area open by 17 June. Security and check-in areas will be updated by the end of the year.
