The UK Government is taking a step forward in the transport industries with new plans for the rail and roads plus the Airports Commission.
Speaking at the Business Travel Conference earlier this week, Transport Minister Stephen Hammond MP said there had been a “step change” in strategy with GBP1.5 billion to be put into improving roads and Network Rail’s plans to spend GBP37 billion to expand between 2014-2019.
The Aviation Commission is due to announce its report later this year into airport capacity.
Egencia’s UK managing director Graham Kingsmill welcomed the announcement.
“I was pleased to hear from the Minister the plans Government are putting into action to bring forward rail investment and HS2 for faster journeys and more passenger seats, as well as tackling airport capacity which is a pressing issue for many business travellers. We will continue follow these developments with interest,” he said.
