SLS Hotels unveils major Chinese expansion

US-based hospitality and lifestyle development company, SBE, has announced the launch of its SLS Hotels brand into China.
Unveiled at a recent event in Shanghai, the Chinese expansion will see the company open luxury properties in Beijing, Shanghai, Wuxi and Kunming, in partnership with Palace Hospitality.
“China is home to one of the fastest-growing tourism markets worldwide, and Shanghai, Beijing, Wuxi and Kunming attract a global community of business and leisure travellers whose sensibilities align very well with the SLS Hotels experience,” said SBE’s founder, chairman & CEO, Sam Nazarian. “After growing the brand successfully across the US, we’re honoured to share the SLS Hotels approach to hospitality with China.”
Based in Los Angeles, SBE opened its first SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills in 2008. This was followed by the launch of a second property, SLS South Beach in Miami, in 2012, with further properties expected to launch in New York, Las Vegas, Seattle, Philadelphia and Miami in the next three years.
SBE said the four new properties in China would feature “a cutting-edge aesthetic, world-class entertainment, and award-winning restaurant and nightlife concepts”. The first Chinese SLS Hotel will open in Shanghai in 2014, as a luxury seafront resort. It will be followed by the properties in Beijing, Wuxi and Kunming, all of which are expected to open by 2015.
