Holiday Inn Express to debut in Bali

Holiday Inn Express will soon make its debut in Bali, following the signing of an agreement between IHG and Indonesian developer, PT Wismatama Indah Makmur.

The new Holiday Inn Express will be located in the Legian area of the island, on Jalan Imam Bonjol, and close to the Istana Kuta Galleria. Development on the proposed 160-room Holiday Inn Express Bali Legian is expected to start in mid-2011, with the hotel scheduled to open by early 2013.

“The key to Holiday Inn Express’ rapid expansion is the value it provides for the mid-market, select service segment. Focused on providing only what guests need, and not charging for what they don’t, it is truly the smarter choice for today’s independent travellers,” said Jan Smits (pictured), Chief Executive of IHG Asia Australasia.

“We have confidence that Holiday Inn Express’ strong value proposition will resonate well with the market. Bali is Indonesia’s most popular holiday destination and is a great location for us to introduce the brand to the country. We continue to look for the right opportunities to expand Holiday Inn Express’ presence in other key Indonesian cities,” Smits added.

The new hotel will be consistent with the brand’s new look, following Holiday Inn’s global US$1 billion relaunch. Facilities will include a gym, swimming pool, self-service laundry, and the ‘Great Room’ – a social lounge space for guests to relax.

“There are many upscale and luxury accommodation options within Bali, but Holiday Inn Express Bali Legian serves instead to meet visitors’ demands for quality hotels at the right location and at the right price. A key global player in the industry, IHG has the experience and scale we look for in a partner – we are delighted to be able to work together and debut the Holiday Inn Express brand in Indonesia,” said Pak Iwan Kurniawan Lukminto, Commissioner of PT Wismatama Indah Makmur.

The new property will add to the global portfolio of 2,075 Holiday Inn Express hotels. Further expansion is expected in destinations such as Thailand, Singapore and India.
