Travel giant Monarch Travel Group is reported to be interested in buying Neilson, Thomas Cook’s ski and sailing arm.
Last February we reported that the company’s CEO Harriet Green was looking to sell Neilson as part of a flurry of sell-offs to bring Thomas Cook out of the red.
The Sunday Times reported that there are a number of parties interested in the sale, including private equity firms. The sale will be held via auction.
Neilson’s worth has not yet been ascertained, however some analysts have estimated its price to be somewhere in the region of GBP150 million.
The move would be a logical step for Monarch after its airline launched its first ski flights last winter, and upped its capacity for this winter. Cosmos also launched its first ski brochure recently.
Monarch’s portfolio already includes its budget airline, Cosmos Holidays, Avro, Somewhere2Stay and cruise line Avalon.
