Airbus’ parent company EADS is to change its name after the plane manufacturer.
EADS is to begin its changes to become Airbus Group from January and will be fully completed in the second half of 2014. It will include three divisions covering commercial aircraft, helicopters and defence and space.
“The renaming simply gathers the entire company under the best brand we have, one that stands for internationalisation, innovation and integration – and also for some two thirds of our revenues. It reinforces the message that ‘we make things fly,” said Tom Enders, CEO of EDAS.
The renaming announcement was part of the group’s first half update, which saw its net income increased 31% to EUR759 million.
Up to the end of June the company had seen a EUR96.6bn rise in orders with the value reaching EUR634.8bn up to the end of June.
Its KPI for the commercial sector has been increased further following its influx of orders, which is set to reach 1,000 aircraft in 2013.
