Hyatt has opened its first hotel in Cambodia, the Park Hyatt Siem Reap, located at the gateway to Angkor Wat.

The 14th Hyatt in Southeast Asia, the hotel was formerly known as the Hotel de la Paix and has now reopened following a 14-month renovation, overseen by interior designer Bill Bensley.

“We are delighted with the opening of the first Hyatt hotel in Cambodia and the first Park Hyatt in the Southeast Asia region, signifying our ongoing commitment to expansion in sought-after destinations,” said Larry Tchou, Hyatt’s group president for Asia Pacific. “We believe that Park Hyatt Siem Reap will pave the way for a new standard of luxury and brand loyalty in Southeast Asia.”

Located in the centre of Siem Reap, the revamped hotel features 108 rooms, including 13 suites, four of which include private plunge pools. F&B options include The Dining Room, which offers a mix of Khmer and French cuisine, opening out on to a courtyard, plus the Living Room lounge, located on the ground floor opposite the lobby. There is also the Glasshouse Deli Patisserie, which serves pizzas, pastries, homemade ice cream and other snacks.

Facilities at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap include a 242m² spa with six treatment rooms, a 24-hour fitness centre and two swimming pools, plus an event space with access to an open kitchen and separate boardroom.

Hyatt also said it will continue the charitable work started by the Hotel de la Paix, including a collaboration with Life & Hope Association (LHA) which provides sewing skills training to underprivileged Cambodian women and encourage them to start their own businesses.

“As Hyatt continues to place a strong emphasis on local communities, we are dedicated to the positive growth of Siem Reap and finding new and unique ways to help the local community here thrive,” said the hotel’s GM, Sholto Smith.
