Cebu Pacific flew more than 2.8 million passengers in the first quarter of 2011 – 12% more than the same period in 2010. The growth was driven by international traffic, which surged 32% to almost 672,500 passengers during the three-month period, compared to 511,200 in Q1 2010. CEB’s load factor averaged an impressive 87% during the quarter – four percentage points more than last year.

“We attribute this first quarter growth to flight frequency increases to key international markets, brought about by the additional capacity from our brand-new Airbus A320. Our 15th Airbus A320 was delivered just last January, increasing our fleet size to 33 aircraft,” said CEB’s Vice President for Marketing & Distribution, Candice Iyog.

The Philippines-based low-cost carrier doubled its Manila-Seoul (Incheon) services to twice daily in January 2011, and added three weekly flights to its Manila-Bangkok services in February, taking the total to 10 flight per week. Between 2012 and 2014, it will take delivery of an additional 16 Airbus A320s.

CEB is aiming to increase its full-year passenger numbers from 10.5 million in 2010 to 12 million this year.
