The company hopes to capitalise on the buzz created by the Royal Princess

Carnival subsidiary Princess Cruises has announced its latest campaign will be launched at the end of this month.

‘Cruise Extra’ will be aimed at pushing European itineraries sailing in 2014 by offering passengers free parking, coach transfers or onboard credit.

There will also be free upgrades on all oceanview cabins, taking them to balcony staterooms.
Alex White, head of sales for Princess told Travel Daily UK that: “In the past few months we’ve seen a big pick-up in demand for the Princess brand in the UK. This campaign is a reaction to that. We believe there is improved confidence in the market for people to be looking forward to 2014.”

The campaign, which will run between 31 August and 31 October, will also give agents an opportunity to use an extra ‘cruise sales week’ at their own discretion. The agents can use the extra cruise week between the three months of the campaign in addition to the two cruise weeks agents are entitled to per quarter.

This will mean passengers need only pay a reduced deposit and will be given a voucher booklet with around US$325 worth of savings.

“We have made the campaign as simple as possible,” continued White. “It all comes from all the feedback we’ve taken from agents and what I’ve personally taken onboard. It’s a great opportunity for the trade to promote us to a national audience after the exposure we received during the Royal Princess celebrations.

“The benefits we’re offering show our commitment to the UK market. For those who live within a drivable distance to Southampton, they could take up free parking; for those who live in the north, maybe a coach transfer would be a better option. Then for those who want to make their own arrangements there is an onboard credit option.

“We are also offering 50% off the price for third and fourth passengers.”
