The fastest growing river cruise operator in the world, Viking River Cruises, has announced it will launch 14 longships next year.
The news means the company is ordering two more ships on the 12 that were already slated to launch.
By the end of 2014, Viking will have introduced 30 new ships over the last three and a half years.
“We are working hard to match supply with demand, and with these new builds, we have the best designed, newest and most extensive offer of ships on the rivers – more than double all our competitors combined,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking Cruises. “More than ever, travellers want experiences that bring them closer to the destination, which is why we continue to design ships and itineraries with destinations and enrichment as the focus.”
The company broke its own world record earlier this year by launching 10 longships for 2013.
