Brand USA is targeting one million tourists from India by 2015.
In the first quarter of 2013, the country has seen a growth of 14.7% and may end the year with a 9% increase. The tourism board recently concluded its annual road show in Mumbai and New Delhi with over 40 representatives from 31 destinations and attractions from United States.
Speaking to Travel Daily India, Jay Gray, vice president for global partnership development at Brand USA said, “We did not expect any cancellations because of the Dollar-Rupee fluctuation but some shorter trips and user of lower rank accommodation could be seen.”
The tourism board is also keen to tap the Tier II and III cities for MICE movement into the country.
The country has received 725,000 Indian visitors in 2012, while in 2011 it welcomed 663,000 tourists in 2011.
