The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is ready to submit Delhi’s application to become a UNESCO’s World Heritage City list. The Indian Express reported that a dossier expected to be sent to UNESCO this week. The national capital will now be in the running to become one of the first Indian cities to get World Heritage status. At present, the UNESCO has 226 cities on its list of World Heritage Cities. A 91-page nomination dossier, drafted by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), on behalf of Delhi Tourism, was submitted to the ASI. Four areas of the city have been shortlisted – Shahjahanabad, Nizamuddin, Mehrauli and Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone for the heritage tag.
